MayFly Waffle Tongs

MayFly Waffle Tongs are a specialist fly-tying tool designed to form realistic, segmented bodies from foam. The textured metal plates press a distinctive waffle pattern into the material, helping create convincing pupae, pupal shells, emergers and other extended-body insect imitations.

Clamp the foam between the patterned plates and gently heat the metal to emboss the surface. Tapering one end of the foam before forming helps produce a more natural body profile.

Use with care: the metal becomes hot during use. Heat the tool rather than the foam directly and allow it to cool before handling.
